Hey There! I'm Faye, and I Help Dogs Have Better Parents 🐾❤️🐾
I have always loved dogs but was not allowed to have one growing up. So the first thing I did when I got out on my own was get a puppy - a beautiful baby boy - a Labrador Retriever.
Here's the thing, though - I didn't have a clue what to do. I didn't know how to best care for my new puppy or train him. I just knew I would love him more than words can say.
Fortunately for my new puppy (and me), I surrounded myself with other great dog owners and learned tons.
Even though I felt like I had learned tons about caring for my first pup, when I got my next pup, another Labrador Retriever, the veterinarian looked at me and asked, "So, how are you going to train this dog?" As you can probably imagine, I had that 'deer in the headlights look.' I really didn't have a plan. I thought my love was enough for my pups, and they would just know the right things to do.
So, I continued to learn on my own and grow my Labrador Retriever family. Sometimes, becoming a family of up to 3 Labs at a time, all while working in a busy career as a Clinical Pharmacist.
One day, with my fifth Labrador Retriever Marley, I walked around the corner from my kitchen to the living room, where I caught him peeing on my brand-new leather chair! At that time, Marley was one year old. I knew he was fully potty trained, so I thought...
Immediately, I took him to the vet the next day and enrolled us in obedience training school one week later. Well, guess who got 'Most Improved Dog Owner & Trainer' at the end of the obedience course? Me! Thank you, Mr. B!
Little did I know, there were so many missing pieces of the puzzle to get my Marley potty trained. I learned potty training was much more than getting my dog outdoors to pee and poop. I came to understand my dog's behavior and needs better.
You see, Mr B. taught me there was so much more than love that I needed to give my dogs. He taught me it was not about obedience. Instead, it was about guiding and sharing a language with my dogs in order to live the best life possible with them.
Fortunately, learning both the missing steps of potty training and learning to communicate strengthened my bond with my Marley. And with all of my future Labrador Retrievers, too.
Because of my immense love for dogs and wanting to share that love with more of them, I began volunteering at a local no-kill animal shelter called Pet Helpers in Charleston, South Carolina. When I'd go to the shelter, leaving my dogs at home, I would tell my dogs, "Mommy is going to go give some love and care to dogs who don't have Mommies and Daddies."
At Pet Helpers, I sadly learned that a common reason dogs are surrendered to animal shelters is the owner's extreme frustration with being unable to get their dog fully potty trained to go outdoors 100% of the time. Seeing people get so frustrated that they were willing to give up on their dogs set off a mission in my soul to help dogs have better parents.
My mission is to help dogs have better parents, starting with getting your dog, no matter what age, quickly potty trained to go outdoors 100% of the time, which means no indoor accidents and no pee pads. From there, we help you unleash your confidence as a Labrador Retriever Dog Parent to create a home of calm instead of chaos, teaching you things they don't teach in obedience school for everyday life with Labs, leaving behind unanswered questions, confusion, frustration, and unnecessary financial expenses so you can build a lifelong bond of love, fun, and happiness together with your Lab.
My purpose is to use my God-given talents to help, teach, and serve living beings with compassion and grace so they don't have to feel frustrated, inadequate, or like they have to figure it all out on their own. Obedience school does not provide a complete roadmap for potty training, and dogs do not automatically know to 'go' outdoors every time without this proper potty training. I believe that training is not about obedience but learning to share a language with our dogs. Dogs are smart. People just don't understand them. That is why I am here for your dog and you!
Potty training is not just for puppies. Whether you have a dog you've adopted or rescued, a dog you are fostering, a dog who has moved from farm to suburbs, a brand new puppy, an aging dog, or a dog that has started unpredictable potty habits even though you thought they were fully potty trained, you are in the right place!
